This Handbook is the result of a "best of the best" approach that can be used by tutors, trainers and literacy practitioners in general. Gary Porter, Adult Learner [Video - 3:00] (2009)

On February 28, 2011, Laubach Literacy Ontario held its second annual Literacy Awareness Day at Queen’s Park, home of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, in Toronto.

This video, recorded that day, features an adult learner describing how he decided at the age of 40 to improve his literacy skills. Although he was successful in his job with the family business and owned a house, there was something missing from his life.

This manual, published by Laubach Literacy Ontario (LLO), is aimed at grassroots organizations trying to strengthen community support for their work.

The authors have included a detailed guide to raising money, including a discussion of the pros and cons of various fundraising ideas; real-life examples of successful fundraising campaigns; and suggestions for making the best use of volunteers’ time.

Building Bridges: Laubach Small Group Manual (2002)

Laubach literacy programs have traditionally provided one-to-one tutoring. This document, prepared by Laubach Literacy Ontario (LLO), describes how small-group instruction can be incorporated into a program without undermining the Laubach philosophy.

The authors discuss the benefits of working with small groups; outline factors that should be considered; and provide instructions for running a small group.
