This report summarizes a research project on current practices that exist for providing employment counselling across rural and northern Manitoba. Research has indicated that rural and northern workers providing these services do not have equal access to supports, resources, referral agencies, or training opportunities available to their urban counterparts.

The forum was attended by 30 practitioners in Winnipeg, Manitoba in March, 1999. Mentoring and networking, both electronic and in-person, have created other important opportunities for professional development. Now, documenting and recognizing the growing expertise, helps with continued growth and diversification of the field.
