This report presents the results of a research project conducted by the Saint John Learning Exchange. The purpose of this project was to collect information from adult learners who previously attended programs at the Learning Exchange in order to augment quality in program delivery and obtain a realistic understanding of the learning needs of adults who access literacy programs.
This report provides an extensive analysis of the adult literacy issue in B.C. and presents the details of the strategy to address the need. It recommends, among other things, that government investment in adult literacy should be increased by 100% for 1990-91 and in lesser amounts for the four following years, and that government should signify its long term commitment by confirming adult literacy as a policy priority.
This Position Paper was presented to the Government of Canada to help encourage a partnership around Aboriginal Literacy. It incorporates the work of noted Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal academics, as well as Position Papers by people in other jurisdictions who are dealing with similar issues. However, it draws primarily on the experiences of the people most directly involved in literacy programs: Learners, practitioners and Elders.
This manual is designed to help readers learn about the Internet. The authors examine what the Internet is, how to connect to it, and how to use it. The manual describes the different ways to communicate on the Internet, identifies informative sites, and explains how search tools make finding information simple.
The South West Shore Development Authority of Nova Scotia recently completed this survey. It, along with a similar study done for Shelburne County, has been useful in enabling them to determine their priorities relating to human resources development. Training organizations and groups promoting literacy will also find it helpful.
This document presents the results of a survey conducted in Saskatchewan concerning Workplace Education. Twenty-nine organizations responded to the survey, which consisted of nearly 50 questions.
