Orientation to LBS: Almost Everything you need to know as an educator working in Literacy & Basic Skills (LBS) in Waterloo-Wellington (2012)

Version 2012

This presentation was prepared by Project READ Literacy Network, a regional literacy support organization in Ontario, as a means of orienting new Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) educators.

The authors explain that by the end of the presentation, participants will be familiar with principles and best practices in adult literacy; be aware of other agencies in the Waterloo- Wellington region of Ontario; understand the context in which each participant’s agency functions; be aware of the key stakeholders in the system; and be knowledgeable about where to find resources and support for professional development.

The presentation also includes information about the nine Essential Skills and the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF).

This is an updated version of a presentation originally published in 2009.
