Planning Together: The Final Report of the Literacy Community Planning Process (LCPP) Development Project (2012)

Literacy Service Planning Guide - version 2012

This is a revised version of a document originally published in 1999, examining the evolution of the Literacy Community Planning Process (LCPP) Committees in the Waterloo-Wellington region of Ontario. The author notes that LCPP Committees are now also referred to as Literacy Service Planning Committees (LSP) or Literacy Community Planning (LCP) Committees.

The report is organized into three main sections, the first of which focuses on the creation of the LSP guidelines and provides the final products as a sample. Literacy networks can use this section as a starting point to help LSP members create their own guidelines.

The second section focuses on community planning and the process of creating a literacy service plan. It includes sample documents that networks can modify for their own use.

In the third section, the author reflects on what was learned from the project itself and sets out recommendations for future development. Those recommendations include extending the community planning process to include other non-literacy community service providers; integrating community planning into LSP meetings as an ongoing process; and developing a tool for evaluating the work of the LSP.
