Tutor Guide 1 - A guide for one-to-one tutoring of Essential Skills needed for everyday living (2011)

This guide is intended for tutors using the first module in the learning and teaching package prepared by the Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council for use with older adults. It is to be used with the equivalent student skill book and as a supplement to Skill Book 1 of the Laubach Way to Reading Series.

The author begins each of the 12 lessons in the guide by setting out its objectives and pointing out which Essential Skills it highlights. The lessons are based on everyday activities like filling out a job application or buying groceries.

The author points out that as the guide is aimed at the tutor, some of the vocabulary it contains may be too difficult for the learner and encourages tutors to adjust the language appropriately.
