Literacy Volunteers of Quebec – a coalition of volunteer-based community groups [Video – 2:50] (2009)

This short video explains the work of Literacy Volunteers of Quebec (LVQ), a provincial umbrella group of community-based, volunteer organizations that offer free services to English-speaking adults in Quebec to help them improve their reading, writing and numeracy skills.

The narrator explains that LVQ doesn’t directly offer literacy tutoring. Instead, it supports the organizations that do provide such services.

Being part of LVQ allows individual organizations to share their concerns, pool their resources, and build relationships with one another.

As well, LVQ allows the organizations to present a common front for advocacy efforts at the provincial and federal levels.
