Financial Literacy Participant Handbook: Module 9 – The wise consumer (2011)

This is the final section of a nine-module workshop designed to train community workers to deliver financial literacy programs. The workshop, which can be presented over one or two days, was developed by the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL).

This module contains handouts and activity sheets on become a wise consumer. Topics include sales pitches and advertising techniques; tips for smart shopping; common frauds and scams; and dealing with consumer problems.

The authors have also included detailed tips for selecting a cellphone plan.

The CCFL is a division of Social and Enterprise Development Innovations (SEDI), a non-profit organization that helps low-income earners gain financial independence.
