Literacy for Life Presents Literacy Programs [Video 3:00] (2011)

Since 1998, the Literacy for Life Foundation has been providing free and low-cost programs in the municipal district of Foothills, south of Calgary, Alberta. This short video provides an overview of the programs offered by the organization, and builds awareness of the importance of literacy at all stages of life.

Literacy for Life offers the Building Blocks program, which encourages early literacy in the home; a variety of community-based parent-child preschool programs; and programs for schoolchildren, including one that lets children read aloud to a dog trained to listen to them.

Programming for adults includes computer basics; English as a Second Language (ESL); one-on-one tutoring; workplace programs; and General Education Development (GED) preparation.
