National Adult Literacy Database Inc. – 2011-2012 Annual Report: Shifting gears... (2012)

This annual report from the National Adult Literacy Database (NALD) looks back on a year of change for the organization.

Funding for NALD was affected by federal fiscal restraint measures, so the organization looked for new strategic directions that would maintain its long-term stability, and ensure that it is not reliant on a single funder. The goal is to help NALD grow by focusing on more fee-for-service opportunities, while continuing to serve and support literacy and essential skills in the community and the workplace primarily through the library resources, services and networks.

As well, NALD’s leadership is seeking to improve the quality of the user experience by increasing interactivity, improving the search functions in the library, and adding options for commenting on and ranking tools and resources on the site.

The report also contains background information on NALD, including an introduction to its staff and board of directors; financial statements for the year; examples of popular NALD features; and information for organizations interested in having NALD host their websites.
