National Adult Literacy Database Inc. – 2009 - 2010 Annual Report: Staying the course (2010)

In 2009, the National Adult Literacy Database (NALD) observed its 20th anniversary, an occasion marked with the production of an anniversary booklet.

This annual report also highlights the creation of a new award, the NALD Innovative Technology Award, presented to a Canadian organization or individual who has developed and implemented a technology initiative that contributes to the advancement of adult literacy and essential skills.

During the year, NALD had the opportunity to be part of the submission prepared by the City of Fredericton, New Brunswick for a competition sponsored by the Intelligent Community Forum, a think tank that studies the economic and social development of the 21st-century community. Fredericton was subsequently chosen as one of the Top Seven Intelligent Communities of 2009.

The report’s authors have also included background information on NALD, including user statistics, and examples of popular NALD features like the “Story of the Week.”
