How to hire the right person: Part 3 – Job ad [Video – 2:44] (2013)

This is the third video in a five-part series designed to help employers with the hiring process. Here, the focus is on creating a job advertisement.

The purposes of a job ad are to create interest in the job, set out qualifications, and to encourage people to apply for the job, the narrator explains. The job ad is the company’s product and the readers of the advertisement are the potential customers. It should have clear text and layout; convey a professional image; have the company’s name or logo present; and be written in plain language.

The video also includes a checklist for preparing a job ad.
