Literacy at Work: An Employee Perspective [Video – 3:41] (2011)

The subject of this video is an adult learner at Okanagan College in British Columbia. He explains that while he does have the skills for various trades, he would really prefer to work on power lines, and that requires major upgrading.

He discusses the challenges of working and attending college, noting some required courses are not available during his off-hours.

He urges employers to be flexible and to encourage their employees to upgrade their skills, in part because it will also benefit the company.

Forest House Productions did the video editing.
