Assessment and Training Referral Guide for Northwestern Ontario Employment Ontario Service Delivery Partners (2012)

This guide has been designed to provide Employment Ontario (EO) service providers with the tools and information they need to identify whether clients are academically prepared to reach their goals, to make appropriate client referrals within the EO service delivery network or the community at large.

It includes a common referral form that can be customized for agency or community use; a referral protocol to determine client pathways based on goals of apprenticeship, employment, independence, secondary school credit, or postsecondary education; initial Literacy and Essential Screening tools and question prompts; and sample EO client profiles.

The author notes that the assessment process outlined here is not meant to replace an agency’s initial intake and assessment practices, but to enhance the capacity of practitioners to make appropriate referrals and support client transitions.

The guide also includes a regional directory of services for Northwestern Ontario, and a glossary of acronyms.
