Assessor's Booklet: Reading – Level 2 (2013)

This booklet is part of a tool, developed by HRSDC, now called Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), to help practitioners understand Essential Skills (ES) needed for the workplace, and to do informal ES needs assessments for their clients.

This assessor’s booklet begins with instructions for administering the client assessment booklet for reading at complexity level 2. The second section provides an introduction and detailed instructions for the client on the assessment process; answers and explanations for each assessment task; and a section for the assessor to record a client’s assessment results and observations.

Assessment questions are based on the kinds of situations encountered in the workplace. For instance, one section poses a series of questions based on a poster about food safety.
