Getting the Job – Workbook (2012)

This document is part of the “Career – Life – Work” series produced by the NWT Literacy Council. The series consists of four instructor’s manuals and six workbooks, dealing with a wide range of issues that affect personal and work life.
This workbook is about helping people get the job they want. It focuses on understanding personal strengths and preferences; the kinds of skills valued in the workplace; transferable skills; preparing resumés and cover letters; completing job applications; and handling job interviews.
The workbook contains many writing activities, opportunities for discussion, and sample documents. A learner can use the workbook on his own, or pair up with a friend to use it in a classroom setting.
The workbook can also be used by an instructor who is teaching the career development part of the series.
