Bell Canada (2005)

Case Study

The Market Knowledge Centre (MKC) intranet portal created by Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) is a one-stop solution that enables knowledge-sharing within the BCE family, and helps employees sharpen their job skills.

BCE is Canada's largest communications company, providing local telephone, long distance, wireless communications, Internet access, satellite television and other services. Rapid changes in the telecommunications industry make it vitally important that employees have easy access to the most current information.

The MKC portal brings pertinent information to each employee’s desktop. Employees can personalize their profile to access the documentation, research reports, or briefings that are most relevant to their jobs. To maximize use of the portal, “lunch and learn” sessions for employees are scheduled regularly.

Employees can also use the portal to access audio conferences held by industry experts, as well as announcements of seminars.
