Literacy and Essential Skills Guide for Service Providers Assisting Homeless or At-risk Clients – Part 2: Three Simple Steps to Selecting and Using the Tools (2012)
Scenarios for Service Providers

This is the second document in a three-part guide designed to help service providers learn about the Essential Skills (ES) tools available through Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).
The first step in using the tools to help clients is building awareness and getting informed about them, while the second step is assessing a client’s ES needs. The third step is supporting skills development by using the various learning and training tools available.
The document also includes a number of sample scenarios related to preparing for a job interview; planning for training; looking for a job; and planning a career.
The guide is aimed primarily at service providers working with homeless people who are trying to enter the workforce.
