Educator Resource Guide: Connecting Employers and Apprentices Across Ontario (2013)

The materials in this package have been developed by www.apprenticesearch.com, a not-for-profit website committed to both increasing public awareness about apprenticeship and to connecting employers and job-seekers across Ontario. Funded by Employment Ontario, the site is overseen by the Halton Industry Education Council.

The activities in this document are designed to provide teachers with an introduction to the world of skilled trades and apprenticeship that they can share with their students. While they are primarily targeted at Grade 10 career studies teachers, these activities would be helpful for teachers of grades 7-12 classes; technology teachers; co-op teachers; guidance counsellors; senior elementary teachers; and students themselves.

The activities are based on information about the nature of skilled trades; myths and realities about trades; apprenticeships; and employability skills.

The authors have also included links to a wide range of relevant online resources.
