Model for Integrated Foundation Skill Support in sport, fitness and recreation training – MIFSS 1 (2013)

This document is part of a resource published by the non-profit organization Service Skills Australia, one of 11 Industry Skills Councils funded by the Australian government to support skills development for industries. The resource is designed to help vocational trainers integrate foundation skill support into their course planning and delivery. It can be customized to meet the needs of various sectors.

This document is aimed at trainers in the sport, fitness, and recreation industries who are delivering courses in communication, customer service, and workplace health and safety. It uses a scenario about a young instructor teaching an after-school karate class who must deal with the repercussions after a student is knocked over by a dog who has run away from the park next door. The authors use that scenario as the starting point for numerous learning activities.
