Model for Integrated Foundation Skill Support in tourism, travel and hospitality training – MIFSS 2 (2013)

Service Skills Australia is one of 11 Industry Skills Councils funded by the Australian government to support skills development for industry. It has published a resource designed to help vocational trainers integrate foundation skill support and development into their course planning and delivery.

In this document, the focus is on training in the tourism, travel, and hospitality industries, with specific reference to the delivery of courses in communication, customer service, and workplace health and safety.

It is built on a realistic scenario that serves as the starting point for a variety of learning experiences. The scenario involves a junior event planner who must come up with a price estimate for a local soccer club’s Christmas party, which will include a sausage barbecue with vegetarian and gluten-free options; enough tables and chairs to seat 130 people; and Santa Claus tossing lollipops to children from his perch atop a scissor lift.

These resources are available as PDF files and can also be downloaded as word.doc files from this site: http://takingthelead.com.au/news/ssa-model-integrated-foundation-skill-support-training.
