Model for Integrated Foundation Skill Support in wholesale, retail and personal services training – MIFSS 3 (2013)

This document is part of a resource published by Service Skills Australia, one of 11 Industry Skills Councils funded by the Australian government to support skills development for industries. Designed to help vocational trainers integrate foundation skill development and support into their course planning and delivery, the resource can be customized to meet the needs of various sectors.

This part of the resource is for vocational trainers in the wholesale, retail, and personal services industries who are delivering courses in communication, customer service, and workplace health and safety.

The session plans and delivery tools in this document are built around a scenario unfolding in a hairdressing salon. An employee who has been told to prepare a window display of products faces a number of skill demands when a colleague knocks down one of the glass shelves, causing a product spill and subsequent chemical reaction, and cuts his finger in the process.
