Educators' Guide: National Occupational Standards (2011)

This document provides guidelines, tips, and templates to help workplace educators and trainers design programs based on National Occupational Standards (NOS), which describe the standard knowledge, skill, and performance levels required to be considered competent in a particular occupation.

The first section of the guide deals with the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and its relationship with NOS. The second part explains the role of NOS in training design, and also discusses the assessment of existing programs with respect to NOS.

The final part of the guide describes the evaluation of training programs.

The guide is specifically aimed at trainers working within the Canadian food processing industry. However, much of the material would be applicable in many work situations.
