Local Labour Market Plan Update (2013)

This document offers an update to a report released in March 2013 by the Algoma Workforce Investment Corporation (AWiC), and includes the latest labour market information contained in the 2011 National Household Survey.

In addition, it incorporates aggregated Employment Ontario program data for the District of Algoma, provided by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. This information focuses on the Employment Services, Literacy and Basic Skills, Second Career, and Apprenticeship programs.

The authors look at local labour market conditions, including population; labour force characteristics and trends; educational attainment; occupation characteristics; and employer characteristics and trends.

Located in northeastern Ontario and bordering the north shore of Lake Superior and Lake Huron, the District of Algoma has a population of about 116,000, spread over an area covering almost 49,000 square kilometres.
