Tough Challenges: Great Rewards - A Strategy for Adult Literacy/Education (1996)

Prepared by the members of the Adult Literacy/Education Steering Committee under the direction of The Office of Higher Education, Training and Adult Learning of Prince Edward Island
This report was presented to The Office of Higher Education, Training and Adult Learning as part of a proposed strategy in Prince Edward Island which is designed to:

insure sufficient and sustainable resources for adult literacy/education
significantly broaden the level of community commitment to achieve a fully literate province
integrate the Strategy for Adult Literacy/Education with those of Health and Community Services, Education and Economic Development.
The policy framework put forward in the report requires partnerships which involve adult learners, communities, post-secondary institutions, the public sector, volunteer organizations, adult educators and governments. Contents of the report include: definitions, a summary report, an introduction , background information, the strategy ( mission statement, guiding principles, priority planning issues, goal, objectives, implementation plan), and appendices ( reading skill levels, federal/provincial funding levels, proposed development structure, implentation plan).
