The Next Step: Reading Skills for Adults - Book 14019 (2003)

The Next Step – Reading Skills for Adults series is part of a project intended to enhance New Brunswick adult upgrading curriculum and instructional materials. The focus of this series of six books is reading comprehension skills.

This is the sixth in the series; this book builds on and reinforces the information provided in the first four books, 14014, 14015, 14016, 14017 and 14018. Chapters in this book include instruction on the main idea, facts and details, sequencing, context clues, inferences, logical conclusions, facts vs. opinion, vocabulary development (homonyms and idioms), figures of speech and literacy devices (such as metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, irony, and foreshadowing), reading literature (such as poetry, short stories, myths and legends), novels, journalism (newspapers and magazines) and drama.
