Literature Review of New Zealand Adult Literacy Research (2003)

This report reviews all the research that has been carried out to date on adult literacy in New Zealand. The author, John Benseman, states that "this review of research is important for both understanding current practices and capacities in adult literacy and indicating what areas should be prioritised in funding future research. While overseas research is often useful in increasing our understanding of adult literacy, it is nonetheless essential to generate New Zealand-based research that recognises the specific social and cultural contexts that are unique to this part of the world."
