Learning from the Experts (2006)

A Qualitative Report

This report presents the results of a research project conducted by the Saint John Learning Exchange. The purpose of this project was to collect information from adult learners who previously attended programs at the Learning Exchange in order to augment quality in program delivery and obtain a realistic understanding of the learning needs of adults who access literacy programs. For this project seventy-two learners were interviewed over a two-month period. The themes in this paper emerged from the analysis of those interviews. A qualitative approach was applied in the data analysis due to the nature and the objective of this project and recommendations came directly from learners themselves and by identifying gaps in relation to learners' needs.
