Lesson Plan 3

This lesson plan, part of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Essential Skills series, is aimed at learners who plan to seek employment after developing their language skills. It helps potential employees ask and respond to who-what-when-where-why questions and read short texts to extract key information. The lesson plan is at CLB Level 2-3 and focuses on the essential skills of oral communication and reading text.

The estimated time required for the lesson is two hours. Vocabulary for the lesson focuses on words often used in job ads, like wages, duties and salary. Audio dialogue for the lesson is available in mp3 files embedded in the document.

The lesson plan includes a discussion of anti-discrimination laws that govern the workplace.
