Go with the Flo (1987)

The central character of this short book is Flo, a middle-aged woman who works nights as a cleaner while also caring for her husband and three children. It follows her progress in finding a better job and deciding to go to school in her spare time to earn her high-school diploma.

The book is divided into 14 chapters, each of which forms an independent part of the overall story, which would allow students to read as many or as few chapters in a sitting as they would like.

The vocabulary is straightforward and the sentence structure is simple. Each chapter begins with a list of the new words it will contain. A complete list of the new words is included at the end of the book.

The book was written for students using the Laubach Literacy Skillbook Three or higher.
