How To Kit - Writing Ideas (2009)

This how-to kit can be used by teachers and adult educators, or it can be used for a community workshop to encourage writing by people of all ages.

The authors begin with a section on prewriting activities, including brainstorming and clustering, to help learners choose a topic or narrow their focus. The next section, on writing techniques and ideas, helps learners generate, organize and communicate their ideas.

Each section includes handouts and suggested activities.

The authors have also included information on holding a writing contest, including a step-by-step organizing guide and samples of rules, entry forms, posters and certificates of participation. As well, they have included advice on publishing the winning entries.
