Moving Out (2009)

Canadian Language Benchmark 1

This document is housed on the Community Legal Education of Ontario (CLEO) server.

This English as a Second Language (ESL) activity kit is aimed at newcomers to Ontario and outlines some of the legal rights and responsibilities in the landlord-tenant relationship in that province. Students are expected to learn that, when moving out, notice must be given in writing and on time. Language outcomes include using a simplified form; getting information from a very basic letter and identifying specific details in it; filling out simple forms; and describing a personal situation by completing a short guided text.
