Essential Skills for Personal Success (2010)

Module 4: Participate as a Member in My Community

This is the workbook for the fourth module of the “Essential Skills for Personal Success!” curriculum, which deals with skills needed to participate fully as a member of the community. Topics covered include dealing with a child’s school; getting or replacing identification; the electoral process; reading the local newspaper; getting a driver’s licence; public transportation; and filling out forms.

To illustrate the material being taught, the authors use four students from CAST – Community Adult Skills and Training – who are improving their essential skills. The four students – two men and two women – range in age from 18 to 46.
