Workplace/Workforce Literacy Feasibility Project Final Report (2010)

Executive Summary

This document summarizes the findings of a consultant’s review of the role of Literacy Nova Scotia (LNS) in developing literacy and Essential Skills related to the workplace and to workforce development. The author’s findings are based on discussions with key players in the field, as well as a review of federal and provincial documents about adult literacy.

The author recommends that LNS adopt a two-track approach, placing the issues of workplace literacy and education on a slower track while immediately embracing the notion of workforce literacy, including a focus on employability skills and their link to literacy and Essential Skills.

The author also recommends that LNS continue to support workplace literacy and education in a general way.
