Essential Skills and Service Cuisine G.P. Inc. (2009)

This case study focuses on Quebec-based Service Cuisine G.P. Inc., a large company that specializes in prepared meals sold in grocery stores. To meet its growing staffing needs, the company hired unskilled workers who had no experience in the food industry. While the new employees were eager to work, many lacked basic skills.

The company used Essential Skills profiles to create formal job descriptions that made a clear link between what the employee is expected to do and the Essential Skills required to meet that expectation.
