Workbook 2 - Essential Skills to Identify the Job (2011)

This workbook is one of a series that grew out of a project designed to develop resources for people who want to look for employment while strengthening their Essential Skills. The project was carried out by Literacy Link South Central (LLSC), a regional network in Ontario, and was funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Office of Literacy and Essential Skills.

To use the workbook, the learner must feel comfortable using a computer and must have access to the Internet because many of the exercises involve using online resources.

In this workbook, the author discusses the difference between career exploration and a targeted job search. Career exploration involves broadening job prospects by looking at new ideas and opportunities and helps the job seeker decide which jobs to target.

The author has included a variety of exercises, including ones that assess improvements in Essential Skills levels after using the workbook.
