Workbook 4 - Essential Skills to Search for Jobs (2011)

This workbook is one in a series developed through a project aimed at creating resources for people who want to look for employment while strengthening their Essential Skills. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Office of Literacy and Essential Skills, the project was carried out by Literacy Link South Central (LLSC), a regional support network in Ontario.

To use the workbook, the learner must have some basic computer skills and must have access to the Internet because many of the exercises involve using online resources.

In this workbook, the author explains how to organize a job search; manage job search time; activate a network of contacts; access the hidden job market; and stay positive.

The author has included a variety of exercises to improve job-search skills and to improve Essential Skills levels.
