Workbook 7 - Essential Skills to Maintain Employability (2011)

This workbook is part of a series prepared through a project designed to develop resources for people who want to look for work while strengthening their Essential Skills. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Office of Literacy and Essential Skills, the project was carried out by Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) in Ontario.

To use the workbook, the learner must feel comfortable using a computer and must have access to the Internet because many of the activities include the use of online resources.

In this document, the author points out that most people will have several careers before they retire, making it essential to continually improve skills and gain more experience. The author provides exercises that focus on managing change; setting goals; continuous learning; training; professional organizations; maintaining a healthy network; and developing a portfolio.
