Civic Engagement for Immigrant Women (2009)

This guide for women who have recently moved to Canada provides information on how to become part of the community and get involved in decision-making processes. It includes information on individual rights and responsibilities in Canada; voting; contacting local government officials; becoming involved in activities at a child’s school; voicing an opinion on important matters; and getting involved in the community as a volunteer.

This handbook has been translated into four other languages: Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin and Spanish. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association website, http://www.ciwa-online.com.
