Essential Skills for Slide Show Presentations: PowerPoint 2007 (2009)

This manual has been designed to help learners in an adult literacy and employment preparation program with the skills required to use PowerPoint 2007. While it is intended to be an independent, self-guided handbook, the manual can also be used in a group setting.

The manual begins with an explanation of the tools available in PowerPoint and a discussion of the ways the program can be used for both professional and personal projects. Learners are guided through the process of opening PowerPoint; adding and sizing text boxes; inserting a new slide; selecting designs, fonts, and backgrounds; inserting clip art and photographs; and adding sound.

There are many practice activities in the manual, as well as self-evaluation forms the learner can fill out before and after completing the course.

The authors note that learners are expected to have a good working knowledge of the mouse and keyboard before starting the course.
