Recipes (2010)

This e-book is part of a series called Best of the Reader, made up of material from The Westcoast Reader, a newspaper for adults trying to improve their English reading skills.

Here, the focus is on food, with the book providing a wide range of easy recipes for snacks, soup, salads, a stir-fry, dessert, cookies and more, made from ingredients that would be available in a well-stocked supermarket. Each recipe includes both metric and imperial measures.

In addition, there are activities to help learners improve both their reading skills and their grasp of English. Activities include questions about the content of the recipes; a word find; a crossword puzzle; fill in the blanks; and scrambled words.

The material can be used by a learner on his own or by a teacher in a classroom.

Books in the Best of the Reader series are published on Creative Commons, a non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative works available to share legally. To learn more about Best of The Reader, please click here:
