Community Impact Evaluation and Literacy Practitioner Impact Evaluation
In 2004, Literacy Alberta and Bow Valley College partnered to develop a two-part training course for practitioners working in the literacy field. The first part of the project involved the design and development of the course and the practicum, while the second part saw the delivery of a pilot of the course to 11 “literacy specialist” participants from 11 different Alberta communities.
This guide is the result of a project designed to provide awareness and to promote a greater understanding of the issues of literacy in our society. The targeted group was ages 12 – 17, as well as the general public, the medical community, and volunteer organizations.
The 2002 Grassroots: Community Writing event was once again part of the Blue Metropolis Literary Festival. The festival theme was the architecture of language. The Centre for Literacy brought together storytellers and writers who have written and published in community-based settings rather than inside institutions, and who have built bridges among verbal, oral, and visual literacies.
