Peter Calamai addressed the Second Canadian Conference on Literacy and Health on October 19, 2004 in Ottawa. In his address, he discussed adult literacy, including literacy levels Canada, literacy and health relationships and the importance of forging partnerships between the public health field and the literacy movement.
This is the conference report for the College Sector Committee Provincial Conference, an event for managers and practitioners involved with the Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Program at all Ontario colleges, held June 3-4, 2004. The title of the conference was Moooving Forward.
On May 3 and 4, 2002 nearly eighty practitioners came together for the first Native Literacy and Learning, Aboriginal Perspectives Symposium held at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto (OISE/UT). There were fourteen presenters on a broad range of topics on the barriers and supports in literacy, ranging from "Healing the Spirit" to "Deaf Literacy."
This article is about the second Ms. Infinity conference, in Whitehorse, Yukon. Over 120 women were involved, with a full third of students coming to Whitehorse from rural communities.
