New Year's 1960 (1985)

An exciting beginner`s book. 24-year-old Hank hears a woman scream. Rushing to her defence, he tackles two men and earns a citation from the police.

The stories are written by adult learners at the Toronto East End Literacy Project and produced by volunteer tutors, adult learners and staff. The series is designed as reading material for adult learners of basic literacy and English as a second language.

The Traveling Book (N.D.)

This book of stories was produced by learners from five different groups of northern Manitoba and is meant for learners. Chapter One was produced by the Flin Flon Community Adult Centre and The Pas Friendship Centre; Chapter Two, by the Ma Mow We TaK Adult Basic Education Program in Thompson; Chapter Three, by the YWCA Literacy Through Craft Program in Thompson; and Chapter Four, by the Swan River Adult Literacy Program.

Lonely Child (1983)

Linda Beaupré`s illustrated poem describes the joys and sorrows of being a teenage, single mother. Lonely Child is the story of a young mother struggling with single parenthood. The author, Linda Beaupre, is enrolled as a learner in East End Literacy, a community-based reading centre in downtown Toronto. It was here that she was encouraged to write about her life experience.
