The Board of Directors of the National Indigenous Literacy Association (NILA) represents First Nations people, Metis people, and Inuit people from coast to coast. Through provincial representation as well as representation in all stakeholder groups, NILA is poised to respond to the vision of eradicating illiteracy in its communities.

On the Job: Reading Text (2006)

There are different purposes for reading leading to various levels of complexity. Complexity is based on how much processing of information is required to arrive at an accurate outcome. These levels range from level 1 (the least complex) reading relatively short texts to locating a single piece of information to level 5 (the most complex) interpreting dense and complex texts and making high-level inferences and using specialized knowledge.

State of the Field Report for Health and Adult Learning (2007)

The Adult Working Group, the author of this report, is a committee of the Health and Learning Knowledge Centre. The purpse of this report is to make generalizations about the existing literature, both practitioner-based and academic, related to the health and learning of adults. This report also identifies gaps in this literature and makes recommendations with respect to promising lines of inquiry for the future.

Adult Working Group's Cross-National Consultations on Health and Learning (2007)

In June 2005, the Canadian Council on Learning (CCL) held a Health and Learning Knowledge Centre (HLKC) consultation in Vancouver, British Columbia. At the consultation, participants agreed to establish various working groups to address the work of the HLKC. These working groups address life stages in health and learning and concentrate on settings, places, and communities where health and learning takes place.
