This kit helps organizers plan a celebration for Family Literacy Day, observed annually on January 27.

This booklet of activities was developed to help people understand the International Adult Literacy Skills Survey (IALSS).
It is hoped that this booklet be used to reflect on how answers to questions are gathered and used to make policy decisions. It is also hoped that the booklet will encourage people to ask questions in different ways, such as through art.

Environmental print is the print found in everyday life, like labels on food, traffic signs or the logo of a restaurant chain. It is usually the first print children recognize and plays a role in helping them learn that letters and symbols have meaning.
Reading and picture bingos are a great way to engage children and families in learning. Included here are several bingos that can be used with children of different ages. Word Bingo can be used with children in grades 2-8. Picture Bingo can be used with young children and the Alphabet Bingo can be used with pre-school and kindergarten children.
