The promotion and encouragement of family literacy is one of the mandates of the SIAST Kelsey Campus Literacy Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In their endeavors to achieve this, the students of the 2004-2005 literacy class created this children's storybook.

In the spirit of sharing their journey towards literacy and in the celebration of World Literacy Day, September 6, 2002, the staff and students of the
Literacy Program, SIAST Kelsey Campus,
Saskatoon, SK offer this anthology of poetry, photos and artwork.

This book was the idea of inmates in the Literacy Program at Brandon Correctional Institution. They wanted to produce a booklet that was meaningful to themselves and hopefully, to other people who have a problem with alcohol and/or drugs.

The 2001 edition of the collective writings and artwork from this group of adult learners.

The students of SIAST Kelsey Campus Literacy Program contributed the stories, poems and artwork that make up Unicorns (May 2000). It is their hope that this book will promote and encourage family literacy now and in the future.
