This Handbook is the result of a "best of the best" approach that can be used by tutors, trainers and literacy practitioners in general. The authors hope it is a tremendous resource that can help achieve higher levels of literacy throughout Ontario. It could also be used elsewhere, with the same results.

In this book the author examines the concept of dyslexia. He begins by looking at the cognitive psychology of literacy, that is, how the brain works when it reads, writes or spells. Recommendations for Improved Services for Islanders with Learning Disabilities (2004)

This document is the work of the PEI Provincial Joint Working Committee on Learning Disabilities. The committee was established in late 2003 and charged with devising a strategy to improve services to Islanders with learning disabilities. The committee included representatives of the Learning Disabilities Association of Prince Edward Island, the PEI Literacy Alliance, and the PEI departments of Health and Education.
