This lesson plan, part of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Essential Skills series, is aimed at learners who aren’t familiar with checklists used in the workplace or who need some exposure to workplace responsibilities. The lesson plan is at CLB level 2-3 and the estimated time required for it is 1.5 to 2 hours.

Vocabulary in the lesson is related to the work of line cooks.

The Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres (SARC) Literacy Needs Project was initiated in October 1998 to assess and begin to address the literacy needs of persons with intellectual / developmental (and other) disabilities. The primary objectives of the project were to:
- Assess literacy needs and to identify existing barriers to literacy;
- Research and catalogue appropriate literacy materials and resources;

Newfoundland and Labrador

This report is a listing of the federal and provincial literacy projects in Newfoundland and Labrador from 1994 to the end of January 1997. These projects have been sponsored by volunteer organizations, colleges, school boards, unions, community centres and others dedicated to promoting literacy and making services more accessible. A report from1995 describes projects carried out from 1988 to early 1994.
