There are a million ways to encourage kids to get involved in language, literacy and learning. Many of the day to day things that we do with our children have a huge impact on their development.
Literacy instructors can use this election how-to resource, developed by the Northwest Literacy Council, to teach their students about the election process. Elections come with their own vocabulary, jargon and challenges. They can be intimidating to a learner who is not familiar with the process, but elections are also a great opportunity to build literacy skills.
Reading and picture bingos are a great way to engage children and families in learning. Included here are several bingos that can be used with children of different ages. Word Bingo can be used with children in grades 2-8. Picture Bingo can be used with young children and the Alphabet Bingo can be used with pre-school and kindergarten children.
